Government Leaders
Lawton operates under a City Council-City Manager form of government. The Council consists of a Mayor and eight Council Members who are elected and appoint a City Manager. The City Council meets every second and fourth Tuesday of the month; meetings are televised locally.
Comanche County is governed by three elected County Commissioners who meet weekly to manage the county’s affairs. Lawton Public Schools are governed by an elected five-member school board whose meetings are televised locally.
Fire and police protection are provided by the City of Lawton.
The Lawton District has two state senators and two representatives in the Oklahoma State Legislature. On the national level, Oklahoma is represented by two senators and five congressmen in Washington, D.C.
